New York Comic Con hosted the world premiere of Wonder Woman: Bloodlines on October 4, and the cast had a panel afterwards.

What can you tell us about your character, Silver Swan?
That she’s the best. I can tell you a few things about her without spoiling this evening’s premiere. It’s my very first animated feature I’ve ever done in my life so I’m really honored to tell such a kickass story, like Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. And you’ll see different stages of Silver Swan, where she starts off as young Vanessa, so I got to play her in the adolescent version until she goes to high school and becomes gothic and pissed off at her mom and resentful, as we do when we are teenage girls, and then the complicated relationship that she has with Diana. Diana quickly becomes the favorite child in the household, and, of course, that doesn’t make Vanessa happy. So to see the animosity between these two characters, especially as they grow into women, is really interesting, and I can’t wait for you guys to see it unfold.

What are some of the biggest challenges that you experienced doing an animated film for the first time?
One of the most challenging things for me was I did it completely Han Solo, by that I mean you’re in the booth by myself, and today’s the first time I’ve actually ever met any of the cast. So it’s really awesome to see how individually we all made our mark in this movie and how it’s all come together, and it’s such a fantastic project. I’ve seen it. You guys are going to freak out, it’s really good. Made with a lot of love.

What do you like about voice-acting as opposed to on-camera acting? A lot of actors love the freedom it gives them. How did you find the process?
I found the process totally different, such because I’ve never really done it before. And you’re right, you do get a lot more freedom because the cartoon doesn’t even exist yet. You’re just making things up into a microphone and going off a script and making it your own. And then, you do a second pass at it when then they’ve created the character, and you’ve seen it. And now you’re matching up, you know, you’re syncing up the flats they call it, that’s the technical term, from what I was told. So, yeah, it’s a weird process because you are alone doing it, but it’s incredibly freeing and liberating all at once, it’s both.

Marie was featured in the summer edition of Regard Magazine, where she discusses her acting start, role as Octavia Blake, upcoming projects, and more. She also stuns in several gorgeous outfits, and talks about her fashion choices, as quoted from the magazine:

RM: When it comes to fashion, which designers do you gravitate to and which ones fit your personal sense of style?

Marie: I’m super casual. Heels for me are maybe a 3 times a year thing! I love the street style and comfort of All Saints. I can switch from day to night, and the variety of leathers are awesome on my Harley, when I’m cruising the streets on my bike. Zadie and Voltaire also turns my head. They have also nailed the feminine with edge vibe in my book.

Marie attended WonderCon along with fellow co-stars Eliza Taylor and Tasya Teles. She took part in a round table interview where she discussed the upcoming season of The 100.

Murphy’s been described as the cockroach in the series. How would you describe your character as an animal or insect?

Marie: “If I were to describe Octavia as an animal, I would describe her as a butterfly because she starts in a disgusting cocoon and then she flies. But she always, you know, might not land in the greatest places.”

Octavia went through a lot last season and there was obviously tension between her and Bellamy. Will we see that resolved or will that be a running storyline throughout the season?

Marie: “It was challenging between Octavia and Bellamy of course because Bellamy poisoned Octavia and then Octavia, which was at the end Blodreina, threw Bellamy into the fighting pits. So, it’s kind of unforgivable acts on both ends and it’s to the extreme of brother and sister rivalry too. So, it’ll be interesting for the fans to see in season six how they come together and what the outcome is.”

How did it feel to see the fan reaction to the screening of season six episode one?

Marie Avgeropoulos: “Well, I hadn’t seen it either so I kind of was like enjoying to hear the fan reaction to the very beginning and all the way throughout to the end because I was trying to compartmentalize it between them and me. I was like, ‘Oh my god!’ because you know when you’re filming you don’t see the other actors’ performances if you’re not in those scenes. So, it was amazing for me to see all my cast and my co-stars and my friends throughout their most amazing performances too. I just felt proud.”

Did anything feel particularly different heading back into this season?

Marie: “Other than I’m in my 30s now and I started this in my young 20s? Yeah, I’m just so thrilled to be a storyteller that fans are still into the story that we’re telling. I’m just incredibly grateful.”

Octavia’s been the leader so what kind of role will she have on this new world?

Marie: “Well how do I tell you this without telling you anything at all? It’s always the hardest. They’re like, ‘Don’t tell them anything but talk to them, okay?’ As you tiptoe in and try not to lose your job.

What can you expect from Octavia this year? Well, you can expect that you know when you hit rock bottom there’s only one way to look and that’s up. With Blodreina she had to make a lot of really tough decisions. A lot of those decisions, you know, came from like Abby explaining about cannibalism. That was such a crazy, awful, unfathomable idea to even do but she says, ‘If everybody doesn’t eat the guilt is going to happen and then there will be chaos. Do it.’ So, Octavia had to shoulder a lot of these choices, you know what I mean?

So yeah, I played a villain, but Octavia had to do it because otherwise there would have been chaos in the bunker because it was a bunch of clans that hated each other trying to survive together. It was a really complicated mindset because she was never born a leader and she was forced to lead. So, Octavia’s got somewhere to go next season to heal her heart, heal relationships, and she spends a lot of it alone and in her own head.”

It’s heartbreaking because even with the people who are loyal to her like Indra, she’s not sure where she stands.

Marie: “Indra trained Octavia to become a warrior and I just love Adina Porter, like I just looked up to her as a mentor in real life. She’s such a great actress and woman. Hi, Adina, if you’re watching this.

Anyways, but yeah it was challenging for Octavia to hear from Indra that she had lost her way. And Blodreina knew that but she had to keep on going just to survive until that moment when they came through and broke through the roof of the bunker and Bellamy came down. But otherwise, yeah, Octavia did get lost in the lust of power. She probably loves that. She was like Trump or something.”

That’s a theme that’s going to continue?

Marie: “Or, she finds her heart again and tries to mend relationships. It could go either way.”
